Why Did I Reach My Daily Limit? Understanding How MAX Counts Questions

Why members hit their daily MAX question limit: every message counts individually, even in one chat, and the cap depends on your actual plan (Karmic Explorer, Great Awakener, MAX Essential, Oracle Unlimited).

Why Did I Reach My Daily Limit? Understanding How MAX Counts Questions

If you've hit a "limit reached" message and it doesn't feel like you asked that many questions, this article explains exactly how counting works. ✨

Every Message You Send Counts as One Question

This is the part that trips people up most: it doesn't matter whether you're in one long conversation or several separate ones. Every single message you send to MAX counts as one question toward your daily allowance, the moment you hit send.

So if you're chatting conversationally, asking a question, then a follow-up, then another follow-up, all in the same chat thread, that's not "one question with follow-ups." That's several separate questions, each one counted individually.

A helpful way to think about it: if you sent 12 messages today, even in a single flowing conversation, that's 12 questions used, not 1.

Your Daily Limit Depends on Your Plan

Not everyone has the same daily allowance. Before troubleshooting further, it helps to know exactly which plan you're on, since the limits are quite different:

  • Karmic Explorer (free): a 7-day trial once your account is confirmed, with 10 questions a day for days 1-3, then 1 a day for days 4-7. After the trial, there are no free daily questions: as we shared in our newsletters, they ended on Friday, October 9, 2026. Thank you for being here.

  • Great Awakener Membership: 3 questions per day for members who joined on or after October 3, 2026. Founding members and everyone who joined earlier keep 5 per day.

  • MAX Essential: unlimited questions, subject to a 100/day fair usage cap

  • Oracle Unlimited: unlimited questions, subject to a 100/day fair usage cap

All daily counts reset at midnight in your local time zone.

My Questions Didn't Reset at Midnight

If it's past midnight in your local time zone and your questions still haven't refreshed, that isn't expected behaviour. First try a quick refresh of the page, or logging out and back in.

If that doesn't do it, or if this has happened to you more than once, please ask for human support right here in the chat or email [email protected] with roughly when it happened. Please do let us know rather than waiting it out, since repeated missed resets are something we want to look into on your specific account. 💫

The Limit I'm Seeing Doesn't Match My Plan

If the daily limit you're seeing doesn't line up with the plan you're paying for, please don't assume it's expected. For example:

  • You're on Great Awakener but seeing a 100/day fair usage cap

  • You're on MAX Essential or Oracle Unlimited but being limited to 5 a day

  • Your limit changed without you changing plans

Any of these are worth checking. Email [email protected] or ask for human support right here in the chat, tell us which plan you're on, and we'll look at your account directly rather than guessing from the general rules. 💫

What Is the 100/Day Fair Usage Cap?

Our unlimited plans are unlimited for normal, everyday use. To keep MAX fast and reliable for everyone, all unlimited plans are subject to a fair usage limit of 100 questions per day, which guards against automated or unusually high-volume activity well beyond typical personal use. The vast majority of members will never come close to this in ordinary use, and the counter resets at midnight in your local time zone.

This applies per our Terms and Conditions.

Still Have Questions?

If something about your limit still doesn't add up, email [email protected] or ask for human support right here in the chat, and include your plan and roughly how many messages you sent today. We're happy to look into it. 💫
